WebDec 28, 2024 · The issue seemed to be caused by the Nouveau driver. Changing the driver under Control Panel > Driver Manager from the Nouveau 1:1.0.15-2 to the proprietary NVidia driver 430.26-0ubuntu0.18.04.2 solved the CPU stall issue and the long shutdown times issue.
