Rayleigh waves characteristics

WebJan 7, 2024 · Here, we simultaneously visualized a longitudinal shear wave propagating along the depth and a Rayleigh wave propagating in the lateral direction, and analyzed the propagation characteristics of the elastic waves, including group speeds, frequency spectra, and frequency-dependent wave speeds. WebWe distinguish three Rayleigh (elastic surface) wave modes at frequencies up to 50 Hz that exhibit systematic spatially varying particle motion characteristics. The horizontal-to-vertical ratio for the second mode shows a spatial pattern of peak frequencies that matches particle motion transitions for both the fundamental and second Rayleigh modes.

WebThe propagation and attenuation characteristics of Rayleigh waves in a liquid layer over a transverse isotropy liquid-saturated porous half-space with irregular interface were studied. In addition, the dispersion and attenuation equations of the phase velocity and the attenuation coefficient with respect to the wave number were derived by which the effects … Webdynamic characteristics of the Rayleigh wave were investigated by having the Rayleigh wave interact with different surface geometries. This was accomplished by initiating a forward moving Rayleigh wave on a concave curved surface and on a sharp right-angled surface. The two glass specimens that were used for this process are shown in Figure 7.
