WebAug 11, 2015 · There is a downside to rear firing subs close to back of the trunk - trunk rattle. Though this position gives the maximum in cabin sub bass response, it also means the rear trunk panels and trunk lid are taking a real pounding! Make sure to properly/thoroughly dampen the trunk panels, especially rear of trunk and trunk lid. WebNov 24, 2024 · This black block next to the boot light connector has 2 screws. 1 on top screws to parcel shelf and 1 at bottom screws onto the red metal shelf. The bottom screw was missing so plastic was hitting the metal. The 2nd screw was for the sub but that did not cause much rattle. 1 - 10 of 10 Posts.

I finally come to the conclusion that the majority of any rattling that's left for my subwoofer is coming from the trunk lid since 98% of it goes away when the trunk is open but when the trunk is closed it's horrible. My subwooofer rattles when the volume is above say 15. Even with bass and subwoofer set at zero the subwoofer assembly will rattle when the bass hits. I took apart the trunk while the stereo was turned on and found when you push up on the subwoofer from inside the trunk the rattle stops.
